Cancer Survivor Visits Siteman To Spread Generosity, Awareness, and Courage

Agnes Judge generously donated $1,000 to The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital to support patient care in the Joanne Knight Breast Health Center at Siteman. Siteman was the 48th of 50 planned visits Agnes has made to leading cancer centers in each of the country’s 50 states. She has donated $1,000 to every center she has visited.

Dr. Stephanie Perkins named as S. Lee Kling Endowed Chair in Radiation Oncology

Stephanie M. Perkins, MD, accomplished expert in pediatric and proton radiation, has been named the S. Lee Kling Endowed Chair in Radiation Oncology at The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital. As director of the S. Lee Kling Proton Therapy Center at Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center over the last four years, her many achievements have cemented her position as a national leader dedicated to improving patient outcomes and advancing the proton therapy field.

Cancer Frontier Fund Supports Six New Research Projects at Siteman Cancer Center

In its milestone 15th year, we are pleased to announce that the Cancer Frontier Fund at The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital recently funded six new projects through the Siteman Investment Program, a research grant program at Siteman. These projects include research focused on breast and ovarian cancer development, chemoradiation therapy for cervical cancer, immunotherapy for leukemia, and enhancing the well-being of family caregivers of cancer hospice patients.

How Donors Are Reducing Breast Cancer Disparities

The Breast Cancer Community Investment Fund in Breast Cancer, created by generous Foundation donors in 2023, supports the Breast Cancer Equity Group, a collaboration between Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University. This group is addressing the alarming fact that Black women have a 90% higher mortality rate than white women related to breast cancer in the St. Louis region.

Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine. In total, Siteman Cancer Center disbursed $1.5 million from a variety of sources, including $1.2 million from the Cancer Frontier Fund.
