At the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center, survivorship support is a critical part of treatment and recovery. On August 24, women with cancer participated in a Live Better Workshop with Chef Ryan Callahan, author of Cooking for Chemo. The event was funded through the generosity of Robert Ashton, who made this program possible with a generous gift to the Together Support Fund in memory of his wife Pauline.

Thanks to generous donors, the Foundation has proudly funded BJC HealthCare’s annual free flu shot clinics for the past 20 years, amounting to more than 275,000 vaccines administered to St. Louis area residents. These clinics help prevent the spread of influenza, ease the strain on health care resources, reach underserved populations, and promote public health awareness.

Gifts to the Cancer Frontier Fund at The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital recentlly funded $1.5 million to support seven of eight projects through the Siteman Investment Program (SIP), a research grant program at Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine.

Thanks to an enduring passion for excellence, groundbreaking research, and generous donor support, BJC Hospice is building on its decades of expertise and extending the compassionate care of Evelyn's House to more patients at home. An innovative program called Evelyn's House at Home is allowing patients who once would be hospitalized for intense symptom management to be able to come home to receive this complex care.

The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital, with support from generous donors, funds a variety of opportunities for high school students, students pursuing a degree or credential, and lifelong learners to engage with real physician-scientists and gain exposure to various work environments.

Availability of funding often determines the ability, success, and rate at which scientific discoveries can progress from an early idea to patient care and treatment. Gifts made to the Cancer Frontier Fund reach physician-scientists through a rigorous, peer-reviewed selection process that identifies and resources the most promising research in cancer in two cycles annually and positions those projects for successful federal funding necessary to accelerate the impact on patient care. It is critical to ensure this fund is replenished and that each generation has access to the most innovative therapies.
