The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital Named High Fundraising Performer
Monday, June 29, 2020
The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital has been named to the "High Performer: Overall" list of fundraising organizations by the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP). Only 84 U.S. and Canadian organizations were honored with this classification in AHP’s 2019 Report on Giving.
The Foundation, established in 1996, helps donors enrich lives, save lives and transform health care through charitable gifts.
Being chosen as an AHP high performer means that the Foundation was in the top 25 percent of health care development organizations that raised the greatest amount in 2018. AHP made its determination based on data submitted by 212 U.S. and 35 Canadian institutions. The honor is a testament to the power of donors to spread good. For everyone.
“As you know, your foundation's work is more critical now than it has ever been. During this pandemic, engagement in the work of our health care organizations is critical as it secures the future of the health of our communities,” Alice Ayres, AHP president and CEO, said in her notification letter. “Your success in philanthropy is a tribute to the ways in which you and your team have engaged the community in your mission and strategic goals in the past year and I am confident that these skills are being used to their absolute best right now.”
The Foundation raises funds for the following health care partners: Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, The Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center, Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College, BJC Home Care and Hospice, Evelyn’s House (hospice), and Washington University School of Medicine. These partnerships help advance research, provide better treatments and patient care, and build healthier communities.
The AHP Report on Giving, issued annually, is a repository of health care philanthropy. The 2019 report covers funds raised by development organizations for health care institutions during 2018. It considers such factors as revenue and expenses, performance measurements and the use and distribution of funds. The study estimates that U.S. nonprofit hospitals and healthcare organizations raised $10.822 billion in 2018, a 3.7 percent increase over 2017.
AHP, based in Arlington, Va., was established in 1967 and represents nearly 4,500 development professionals at 1,900 nonprofit hospitals, medical centers, health systems, and related facilities internationally.
