The Power of Giving

Advancements in cancer prevention, therapies, and outcomes are driven by innovative research. Gifts power the wheel of cancer innovation, translating promising ideas into new standards of care.

Extraordinary care means our patients have access to the most innovative treatments, technologies, and expertise when it matters most. Gifts provide real-time solutions that directly improve a patient’s journey.

Academic medical centers have the honored responsibility of training the next generation of physician-scientists. Gifts foster a culture of continuous education and training, fueling the cycle of cancer innovation.

Many personal and socioeconomic barriers outside the hospital can impact a patient’s overall healing process and access to care. Gifts create a holistic and personalized approach to cancer that meet people where they are with premiere care designed to treat the entire person—beyond the hospital walls in our community and throughout the world.

A Heart Care Milestone

On June 11, BJC HealthCare marked a significant milestone for the Barnes-Jewish Hospital campus renewal project with the Plaza West Tower topping out ceremony. Hospital and civic leaders, including Foundation board members, looked skyward to watch the installation of the final steel beam on the new 16-story building.

The Plaza West Tower, opening in 2025, will consolidate the Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Heart and Vascular Center inpatient beds and ICU rooms in a single location, facilitating greater collaboration among caregivers and easier wayfinding for patients and families. The new facility will also create synergy that will improve the patient and family experience.

Donors will play an essential role in bringing this remarkable new building to life—by providing critical funds to support the people and programs inside. Philanthropic investment through the Foundation will shape the future of heart and vascular research and collaboration to promote extraordinary heart care, an enhanced patient experience, and training and ongoing education of the next generation of heart specialists.
